Re: Interesting findings on the internet

Shockingly, another instance of "putting all your eggs in someone else's basket, no matter how much you pay them, is still a bad idea."

Re: This is utter BS. Is there some site configuration cure for it?

10MB is trivial today. What you're missing is that after several iterations, I got my piddly little animated gif down to less than 2MB, and phpBB is still kicking me in the balls over it. And yes , it is important to the presentation I just finished in the main forum. mnem :middle_finger: phpBB .

I assume it must be some php-weenie built-in bullshit to screen out animated GIFs, as it clearly is not filesize-dependent.

Happy enough, I'm happy. I may have exhausted my stock of 47µF and 10µF tantalums and there are still a few that will need changing at some point. Last time I looked, CPC was surprisingly cheap for tant beads. ... some very nice Chemtronics desolder braid (bought at the rally, have you seen how muc...

My Fitbit Versas (Gurrgle/Android) are water-resistant and advertised as safe for full-immersion/swimming safe to 30 meters; newer models are advertised the same to 50 meters, having a "swimming mode" which engages automatically by means of a barometric sensor. I know this because I've had...

Finishing up this project. I made an executive decision to not replace the capacitor shown, plus one under it, on the TM503 supply at this time. In order to get the old ones out it will take major disassembly and lots of cursing to get the tabs unsoldered from the board. I have replacements in stoc...

Re: Wouldn't happen with an ASR33

Yeah, glare like that is one of the obvious clues that a keycap isn't double-shot (an overmolding process, see below); The glare is solely a function of the LED brightness (easy to solve) and my eyes/glasses (less easy) or for the camera the contrast (probably solvable if auto exposure wasn't used)...

Re: Wouldn't happen with an ASR33

Yeah, glare like that is one of the obvious clues that a keycap isn't double-shot (an overmolding process, see below); keyboard weenies know that double-shot keys is how all the old favorites were made. It is the reason why the legend never wears out on a IBM/Lexmark Model M, etc. Since then, they'r...

Re: Wouldn't happen with an ASR33

The keycaps have nothing to do with the switches; they are invariably made by another party anymore. You can buy full kits for as little as $10, right on up to over a hundred depending on features. Just search "Cherry Keycaps" on slAmazon... if you won't do business with Bezos' Online Crac...

Some corrections here... Firstly, they aren't glued in. It's double sided tape like 3M contact strips and it's dead easy to get out. You just pull the strip and they come right out. As for sealed phones, I'd rather have them. They are pretty heavily bomb proof these days and get a lot of abuse incl...
