Re: Test Equipment Anonymous (TEA) : Discussion and Group Therapy Thread
I have to agree about moderation being an impossible task. I'm a moderator on another local forum/social media platform that is actually a global platform but run as local areas to keep things more manageable, Some of my moderator colleagues, in my opinion, are not upto the job as they lack any comp...

Arriving early part of next week, something that has been eluding me at the right price for years. This beauty will take boards upto 240 mm long and a tad over 100 mm in depth, 3.2 litres in fluid capacity, just what I needed when I did that Black Star 4503 bench meter with that very high impedance...

Civilisation comes in waves I suspect. People who lived through wars tell stories. Eventually they wear off and new people demand more wars. —— And now for something completely different… or not. Another civilisation failure. Just spent the day wandering around here … IMG_3837.jpeg Pray, do tell, w...

My 50" LG is flipping heavy, I would not be too happy about wall mounting it on a stud board wall that's for sure.

Re: Tek 7B92 Plug-in Repair
Finally got some time to troubleshoot this plug-in. The defect with this plug-in was staring me right in the face. The Main Triggering Mode/Coupling/Source switches are supposed to light up. DS1 and DS3 on attached schematic. Verified that there's no +5V to the lamps. So in the process of tracking ...

https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/800x600q70/924/2UHslt.jpg This Sangamo Type F portable watt hour meter was the main item I was interested in though. It'll count up to 20 kWh. It's limited to 5 Amps though so that limits what kind of device testing you can do with it. Higher powered appliances li...

I was just over on "the other place"----No, not the Australian Senate Chamber, but EEVBlog. In their "Projects" section, there is a seriously weird guy called "artbyrobot" , who purports to be building a humanoid robot. His methods are very unlikely to be successful, h...

OK gang, I opened up the assembly and I found the problem. And my hunch was totally correct. As proof, the unit on the bench and measuring the 9MEG resistor. NFG. https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/xq70/923/zsm4Gm.jpg I opened it up with a dremel. That large resistor clearly says 9MEG/0.1%. https:/...

Ha! See post by me at top of previous page involving PS Waverley :) I think that was what prompted me to post. That reminds me of a test equipment enthusiast who vanished some years ago, possibly now deceased. He was known as Archivist on IRC and he had a self-hosted website cataloguing his collect...

From what I know of the Soviet defence sector, the persistence of the things is because they had regulatory requirement to be able to be self-sufficient as a nation and they had a lot of stock left lying around. On top of that the cost was much lower than newer technology. Suitable meme cJpvQY1.jpe...

Re: Solartron 7150 Plus
Just did my 7150 a couple of weeks back. I bought a new filter from Mouser which was fine. They sell new ones. Yes they aren't short of £30 but it's that or burn the house down so I figured it was a good trade off. I did use the genuine correct HP LED parts, which are still sold by Broadcom now (!)...

The Russians captured the low-end functional market for several types of items in that era, because the stuff was cheap and solid. Anybody remember Zenit SLR cameras? Yes, I do, I had one for many years (it was a Dixons Prinz badged one, poorly done, a plastic badge stuck over the Zenit logo, but i...

So bored and drunk after an extremely profitable couple of days "digging people out of the shit thanks to Crowdstrike" This is interesting, a bit over my head to sort it out, but if this what he is saying is correct, then once you know what to look for then it should be easy to resolve. I...
