Re: Post a picture of a cat

at least you didn't name any of them schrodinger. every dumb ass college kid with a cat names it schrodinger. our torty was named Oliver Heaviside. but swmbo objected, snuck up to the vet, and changed her records to read Olivia. she is our smartest cat and solves problems that leaves the other cat ...

Re: Post a picture of a cat

Gee, when I got Harley snipped there was no cone and no pain meds. The vet said just to keep an eye on him and it's OK if he wants to lick himself in that area. When I got him home he was a bit wobbly in the legs and believe it or not he wanted to eat. So I fed him and later he zonked out. Next day...

Re: Post a picture of a cat

I'm amazed you were able to snap a picture of Widlar near a cat box; ours collide in the cat flap as they desperately run away the moment the box comes out. In fact, we've given up on taking Binx to the vet as the trauma required to get her in a cat box is too much for her, and I get seriously claw...

Re: Post a picture of a cat

Widlar got snipped yesterday. After about the sixth time I put the cone back on him, I gave up and let him be. He’s pretty much bounced back entirely, though I’m still giving him the pain meds. https://photos.smugmug.com/Animals/2502-16-Felines/i-HKhcPM3/0/LthxJmBdwWZR4zCxtF3MGBwGqr7hS7NNfmVZV4vTN/X...

Re: Test Equipment Anonymous (TEA) : Discussion and Group Therapy Thread

Yup. Bought the Lincoln in the early 00s when the catalytic converter flange on my Miata's exhaust broke off. The flange was mild steel while the rest of the catback was SS, and in near perfect condition. I’d wanted to get an aftermarket exhaust, but as the OEM one was still in such good shape, I ju...

Re: Test Equipment Anonymous (TEA) : Discussion and Group Therapy Thread

Oooh er! Hadn't considered that. Anybody buying aged test equipment for its valves is an idiot; if not worn out, the valves will be well on their way. Would I buy a DMM using nixies? Not really; I want better accuracy than was achievable in that era. I can't imagine much useful test gear is lost to...

Thanks, guys. And yes, Gilmore was a very happy cat, curious and always into everything. Knew he was a handsome boy and a great poser for pictures as well. And absolutely, they always leave us too soon.

The cat distribution system works in mysterious ways, though - a few weeks before Gilmore's final diagnosis, my friend's wife (who had facilitated the arrival of Gilmore and his sisters back in 2015 when one of her coworker's friend's mothers (or mother's friend - there were several degrees of separ...

I've seen that tower climbing video many times, and it never fails to make my ankles feel rubbery. Nope, nope, nope. It's remotely possible I *might* be able to climb UP there, but there's no way in hell I'd get down without a helicopter picking me up or perhaps a parachute - I'd imagine I'd be froz...

Re: Interesting findings on the internet

I will tolerate one tube/valve in a piece of test equipment. 1500? Not a chance! My limit thus far has been something over 70 with the HP 524 series counters. It's almost time to break one out and start wowrking on it again - it's getting colder in these parts... https://photos.smugmug.com/Electron...

That's the song selector - note that the two arms are configured on their ends to press either the inner or outer ring of pins. Inner pins coincide with one side of the record; outer with the other. When a customer made a selection, that arm assembly would rotate until the appropriate end was over t...
