https://teanonymous.com/f1/download/file.php?mode=view&id=2251 mnem dogs come when they're called; cats take a message and maybe they'll get back to you. Surprisingly, Ghost (my former feral street cat) apparently never got the memo about belly rubs - she rolls over and loves them. https://phot...

Sizzle, burn! Already 81 here according to my outside thermometer. I much preferred the mid seventies we were getting last week.

Re: Hooky HP E3610A

Ok so this is now repaired and not drifting. As suspected the voltage amplifier opamp was wonky. It was replaced with a TI UA741CP which is just what I happened to have lying around. I'll calibrate it another day but it's delivering the rated current properly now anyway The culprit... IMG_0851.jpeg...

Re: Hooky HP E3610A

Just got an HP E3610A power supply from eBay for a respectable price. Initially looks good. ... Oh now hang on a minute, no it doesn't. There's a modification, clearly an insane one. There is what looks like a series 1n4148 with the negative lead ... Some people! I will have to very carefully check...

Re: Test Equipment Anonymous (TEA) : Discussion and Group Therapy Thread

Actually, that was a real live Edison cylinder dictation machine - the horn at the end of the long tube was for speaking into (probably closer to shouting into); it then recorded onto a wax cylinder. Basically the early memo machine for a secretary to type letters from. The cylinders could be reused...

Got an HP 5246L from the wallet sucking site. 'Free' shipping. The guy literally put a single layer of bubble wrap around it, then folded corrugated cardboard tightly around the instrument. From this angle, you can clearly see that it's wider at the back of the pic than the front - the sides ...

Re: Test Equipment Anonymous (TEA) : Discussion and Group Therapy Thread

As one who’s been driving for years now and got my license immediately at sixteen, it’s easy to say this, but getting licensed should be much more difficult than it is. As BD mentions above, pretty much if you show up upright and ambulatory it seems you’re good to go here in the US. I think it’s a b...

I will not go out with anyone who has a dog. All dogs are grade A retards. I can't cope with one of those in my life.
Ditto, ditto, and ditto. Especially the ones with the little yap dogs that they carry around like a baby.

Good to see you at least poke your head up. Fingers crossed that you get a bit of a break to decompress and enjoy yourself a bit. I suppose that feast beats famine where work is involved, but neither can be a permanent condition!

Definitely not. I'm with Mike in this - I prefer an odd number of pedals (unless it's a flying machine, then they should be in multiples of two), and knobs & levers to control things. 'Soft' controls and touch screens have no place in a vehicle (certainly not beyond the radio, where I'll grudgingly accept them ...
