Re: TEK TM503 Project

Yes working on that now. It's all being pipelined into eBay carefully at the moment or disposed of. Nothing is worthy of the auction house as such. As for the jaunt, I'm trying to trade it off against jumping on a plane somewhere more interesting for the weekend for about the same price before it g...

Back from my dinner date with neighbors feeling sorry for me being home alone. Wife's Bday and all. Coco turned up to say hi and grabbed the warm seat just before I left.

Re: Post a picture of a cat

Yep, cats and dogs that you have from young should be handled all over, belly and back rubs, feet/legs gently pulled and stroked to build trust with your new friend.
A little time and effort when they are young pays off.

At DC.
Pulsed 20A is possible.
Which datasheet says that?
None.

It was a project given to a student by a lecturer I know....find how hard you can push it.

One of my cars had 16 forward gears and 4 reverse gears. I've driven such constructs too. Once through central Vienna, nearly with police escort. I do have a truck and bus license. We use the very Swedish expressions "split" and "range" to describe the two extra gear boxes. Anyo...

Re: Test Equipment Anonymous (TEA) : Discussion and Group Therapy Thread

A while back I made some adapter boards for SOIC 14 and 16 chips with room to add decoupling capacitors. Not as ambitious as above, but it removed the frustration of decoupling these ICs on a breadboard with huge long leads to the decoupling caps. I don't know why most of the manufacturers don't in...

Not really. The trick is not to buy garbage SSDs  Yeah well in the early days of SSD's good ones were bloody expensive so to dip our toes in this new technology we had to limit our SSD budgets and continue to use spinning rust for our main data drives. Boot times were slashed ! With W7 we enga...

Don't you also have to worry about earthquakes in NZ? Might that be a part of putting the building on poles? I know that in California earthquakes are a serious consideration in building design, and they include bearings and dampers for large buildings. Not really although like California we do hav...

Re: Bench Turd

Aussies up north hammer concrete posts into the ground in a standard pattern. That means you can go to a second hand house sale, select a house, and then it is delivered on a truck and hoisted into the posts. I was gobsmacked when I saw that on TV, many decades ago. Similar with CCA treated pine po...

Went visiting today and that grandad had to walk me the 200m back home.
Wee interlude at the shed before I was rewarded with a sachet of tucker at home.

I often wondered why dear pop wore woollen singlets all his life until I also hurt my lower back in late 20's and lived with sporadic discomfort ever since. At that time, some 40 years back he said you need wool singlets from now on and I did for many years and only initially noticed their itchiness...
