Re: Interesting findings on the internet

Found this picture in one of the ESI manuals (252 AC bridge), took a moment to find a good one & scale to A3.
IMHO it's a proper "wall ornament" for any electronics lab, work or home.

Re: Test Equipment Anonymous (TEA) : Discussion and Group Therapy Thread

Those blue Philips 'lytics have to go. Always a problem. Some more in the suppy section on the back. Recent "defpom" video seems to suggest the back PS section might have a looming problem with brittle plastic leading to overheating regulators, at least check the TO-220's on the metal shee...

Re: TEK TM503 Project

Good hunt! That plastic was likely part of the high voltage isolation though, (together with the outer shell). If nothing conductive is close to it when assembled, it should be fine. (that should include a healthy gap between resistor bodys) Now from the precision point, it could be argued this work...

Re: TEK TM503 Project

My hunch centers around the input divider shown on the schematic as R10. It is a sealed unit with Tek P/N 307-1015-00. That indicates it is a network , so the tracking (50ppm?) is probably as important as the 0.1%. If you look at the actual pictures though, it sure looks like they "just" ...

Re: TEK TM503 Project

I would suggest a "divide and conquer" strategy and measure the (attenuated) input voltage before the integrator at point "circle 1" / before R140 to help chase it down. But I can see how that would be quite annoying without making up something like an extender card first, or at ...

Re: Telequipment D32

Well, at about 15€ for two 2Ah 18650 cells with shipping and like ~2€ for a China 2S BMS (OK, make that 5 and buy two...),
I don't think it's unreasonable

Re: Telequipment D32

Ok, since the talk with 0x57 about the NiCd in his Yokogawa, this stuff is in the back of my mind. So this was a 7.2V nominal NiCd, so 6 cell. As per the discharge curve: https://electricala2z.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/c-users-ahmed-desktop-web-work-electrical-a2z-in-10.jpeg one would expect th...

I present to you: sanitized DM501 DC input "core circuit" schematics. AC circuits omitted for clarity. Try reading the explanations of DC / Ohms / Integrator (beware of typos) again with this in hand... AnalogInput_TekDM501.gif The various bias circuits and current mirrors (and care taken ...

Playing with a Function gen with modulation is a bit magical and great fun!
Make sure to have an audio-filter (simple RC LPF is good enough in a pinch) handy,
so you can test-drive the sweep capability as well.

Re: Test Equipment Anonymous (TEA) : Discussion and Group Therapy Thread

I just packed it in for the evening in sheer frustration. The stereo receiver I'm using on the bench has switches for A and B pairs of speakers so I thought it would be convenient to have a set of pigtails brought out to an easy access location instead of having to go behind the receiver to connect...

Talking of software, what is the collective view of using Python for controlling hardware for commercial products? Are you talking about controlling "commercial products" like a Keithley multimeter by Python, or "building a partially hardware product, which software side is python&qu...

Hello Med, I'm really happy you like the surprise - thought your Fluke counter looked lonely, with it's intricate stacking mechanism unused and also hoped an orderly guy like you would have good use for it! Here's what I know of it's history: It came to me, stacked onto an Fluke 2300A thermocouple s...
