Package From Germany

Post by MED6753 »

Just received a package from Germany with this note.....

Image

It contained the expected Type 547 HV assembly plus these extra goodies...

Image

The package that they came in was much bigger and heavier than expected. And here's why.....

Image

A Star Trek Shuttle looking Fluke Y2023 Storage Accessory. Never knew something like this existed.

Image

It is the same form factor as my 7260A Counter and they are stackable and have side retainers so they can be carried as one unit. I painted the case of the 7260A because the beige is just an awful color and I will do the same to the Y2023.

I want to publicly thank Mounty and Christian for this nice surprise. You guys never cease to amaze me. :D :D

I'm glad that it finally arrived at your place. It took really a long time to go over the pond.

And I'm also enjoying your grinning face while opening the package. :D

You are very welcome.

The last DHL tracking showed that it was finally on this side of the pond and in US Customs. Then suddenly USPS delivered it. :o

if so.......mail them to mike so that he can man the shuttle.

edit can't believe fluke sold such a thing. and am more surprised that someone actually bought one. (maybe they gave them away at trade shows?)

edit 2 if you do paint it.....stencil ncc 1701 on the side.

The "Type F" shuttlecraft these family of TE resemble have both name and numbering convention. The Registry number is the parent ship followed by craft number as seen in this chart.

The most recognized of the lot would probably be the Galileo, which was destroyed and replaced in show.

Shamelessly hijacking the thread for just a moment... this guy's Trekkie Puns make Mounty's flat jokes positively... acceptable.

Just for grins I did a Google on "Fluke Y2023" and it comes up with nothing, nada, zilch. Even Ebay totally blank. :o

This means, you are having there a really rare thing. :-)

You should ask ch_scr, where he found it.

Hello Med, I'm really happy you like the surprise - thought your Fluke counter looked lonely, with it's intricate stacking mechanism unused and also hoped an orderly guy like you would have good use for it! Here's what I know of it's history: It came to me, stacked onto an Fluke 2300A thermocouple scanner, which itself is an accessory to the Fluke 2180A digital thermometer. The accessory case had an "fabricated looking" plate mounted inside it, with lots of thermocouple jacks hard-wired into the scanner. I was only interested in the thermocouple switch card inside the scanner though, as it came without the thermometer itself anyway. The Y2023 is mentioned in the Fluke 2180A manual and can be found almost exclusively as part of a stack with either a Fluke 2300A Scanner and/or a Fluke 2180A / 2190A Thermometer. There are some such stacks on ebay (search for the scanner or multimeter), but at the time of writing this, none containing a Y2023 case. It might be somewhat rare? Sidenote: As ugly as this "series" may seem to some, I've not even once seen one with a broken case! And I've looked, hoping to find a bargain, to transfer into my "good" case with filled with the broken 2300A scanner.

Oh... I didn't realize you had a cohort; thank you for roping ch_scr in on your nefarious plan as well. And thank you ch_scr, for allowing yourself to be roped in.

Couldn't stand that fugly beige case so it's been painted to match the 7260A. But unlike the 7260A the handle screws were captive and not accessible. I tried prying the handle covers but it appeared they would break so I just masked off that area and painted the rest of the case.

So it's gone from totally ugly to only slightly ugly. :D
