Fluke 75 boring repair

Post by bd139 »

Well finally bought some more TE. A completely deceased but mint Fluke 75 made an appearance on eBay for a whopping £17 including delivery so I nabbed it quick.

Turned up and was completely dead as expected.

Guts:

After inspection, the culprit was found and it was something really damn stupid. The CPU crystal, a little 32KHz watch crystal was bent over underneath the cover on the dividers and one leg was touching the case. This was enough to stop it oscillating entirely. Bent it back, put it back together and it works fine. Otherwise completely perfect. Even the fuses weren't jumped!

Old one on left. New one on right!

Well that was boring. Was expecting a challenge at least!

That was a good snatch, I have loads of meters, so I'm not adding to them any more, but that might change if the right one comes along ;)

Sometimes a boring repair is a good thing...

Nice score, and it's in beautiful condition!
