Re: Test Equipment Anonymous (TEA) : Discussion and Group Therapy Thread
Just spotted this amazing bargain on eBay, I think I might ask if the seller has any more Perhaps a rich banker might want to but it.

Re: Test Equipment Anonymous (TEA) : Discussion and Group Therapy Thread
There are a few things offered like that, such as a Tek 475 offered for 7 grand, Buy It Now, but considering lower offers. You could get one from a dealer for less than £250, with an assurance it worked and a short guarantee.
It's something like a Dutch auction. The seller hopes, but doesn't expect, someone to be fool enough to cough up the full whack. Otherwise he can sift through the offers and accept the highest if he thinks it's enough, or not sell. Maybe it's a sensible way to sell something that's likely to attract few bidders, so what it's going to fetch on ebay is very dependent on who happens to be looking at the time.
There are a few with ridiculous prices which don't accept offers.
I find it off-putting. I've found that people who talk about outrageous prices for things are too silly to waste any time on.
Rich people don't get that way by paying well over the odds for things.

Is that why I found a Chalupa in my mailbox this morning...?

nice pants.

I think you spelled thick wanker wrong
Re: Test Equipment Anonymous (TEA) : Discussion and Group Therapy Thread
Let's see what that looks like:
No, that seems to have a transparent background (on the preview anyway*) but it ignores the IMG tag height setting, which is not good. Much though I love me minions, I like them a sensible size.
Edit: *And on the final posted message too. Leastways it does here in Safari.
Re: Test Equipment Anonymous (TEA) : Discussion and Group Therapy Thread
Let's try that with an explicit width option:
Nope, seems to ignore WIDTH as well.

Re: Test Equipment Anonymous (TEA) : Discussion and Group Therapy Thread
Oh no not bloody minions. I have to deal with enough of them at work.
Re: Test Equipment Anonymous (TEA) : Discussion and Group Therapy Thread
Probably the BBCode for images doesn't have attributes. I can dig into it.
TEA is the way.
Re: Test Equipment Anonymous (TEA) : Discussion and Group Therapy Thread
Sure enough, no width nor height in the default BBCode for images. To keep the tangent to a minimum, hop on over to this post to check out some custom BBCodes I made and how they work on minions.

Lets try the Minion after running it through Paint and resizing it and converting to .jpg in order to reduce file size.

Re: Test Equipment Anonymous (TEA) : Discussion and Group Therapy Thread
Not sure if this is going to be our new home or not, so I'll duplicate my latest post on io.groups here in case.
Some of you may remember that I have an ongoing issue with the PV array on the roof not working and the saga continues to this day, some 3 months and 10 days since I first reported the problems.
Well today we had another visit from another engineer, (last one has left) and despite the last one requesting a new RCD and some trunking etc to tidy everything up, and their head office telling me that they were waiting on a quote from their supplier (that was a load of BS, they should carry RCD's on their vans), the new engineer turned up, claiming he knew nothing about what the problem was and hence had no parts.
Anyway, he did go in the loft to look at the inverter and after a while, emerged with a grim face, announcing that the MDF board that the inverter was mounted on, was all mouldy and hanging off the wall and threatening to fall off the wall, and possibly crash through the ceiling. He said that the inverter had popped its clogs and that was the cause of the problem and also why the RCD was tripping out. Which makes sense if its mouldy, there is dampness and possible tracking happening. I just could get my head around why the last person claimed that it just the RCD at fault, they trip because of leakage, not overloads FS.
He also said that he does not have a suitable board to remount the inverter on, or indeed an inverter on the van and has had to report back to HO his findings and that they will have to get the parts together and rebook an appointment urgently with me once they have the equipment, which he thinks will take him a couple of hours to fix. So now we play the bleeding waiting game again, with the contractor requesting permission from the HA to proceed with the repair and an O/N and then for the contractor to get the parts and return sometime when??
Place your bets, will be before Christmas, one thing for it certainly won't be doing anything to help reduce the energy bill anytime soon, we have had the sunshine almost for the years and zero free energy from it

He might have intended to write "Merchant Banker" which is the usual rhyming slang.
"J. Arthur Rank" also comes to mind.

The only time an embedded image will resize with the default image BBCode is if it's wider than the post area. CSS will scale it to 100% of the post width.

Re: Test Equipment Anonymous (TEA) : Discussion and Group Therapy Thread
What do folks think thus far? Some comments seemed to indicate that this is working. Is there more you all would like to test out? I'm not in a rush to make a decision. I'd rather that everyone be able to test out everything that is important to them.Specmaster wrote: ↑Tue Oct 25, 2022 11:21 am Not sure if this is going to be our new home or not, so I'll duplicate my latest post on io.groups here in case.

Re: Test Equipment Anonymous (TEA) : Discussion and Group Therapy Thread
I like it and I was very heartened by MED6753's post on his Tek 314. I have two or three footling projects of my own I'd like to document and post, when the parts arrive and some progress has been made, and one when I'm satisfied I haven't made a silly oversight, I may ask for help on.
I think the problem is that some of us got used to the groups way of doing things and are not sure whether this is just an experiment or not. Maybe some prefer groups.

Re: Test Equipment Anonymous (TEA) : Discussion and Group Therapy Thread
I'm on the fence. Quite like both at this point. It's about the content not the medium
Re: Test Equipment Anonymous (TEA) : Discussion and Group Therapy Thread
I definitely prefer this forum rather than the group.
An old gray beard with an attitude. I don't bite.....sometimes
Re: Test Equipment Anonymous (TEA) : Discussion and Group Therapy Thread
But the medium affects how easy and convenient it is to create and access the content. For instance, particularly for a difficult subject, I'd far rather read a paper book where you can choose your own posture and carry it about, than read it on a computer screen. The information is the same.
Re: Test Equipment Anonymous (TEA) : Discussion and Group Therapy Thread
OK, so far, so good then. Let's continue for the rest of this week and see how things look.
Of course, I'm a bit biased toward this solution because I can enact changes, sometimes right on the spot.
Some things I'm looking forward to diving into, if we stick with this platform:
Of course, I'm a bit biased toward this solution because I can enact changes, sometimes right on the spot.
Some things I'm looking forward to diving into, if we stick with this platform:
- More smilies and some that are TEA-specific
- Our own theme and logo
- Tweaks to the home page to better integrate tags into the design
- Unique icon for each forum
- Better highlighting when there's new content and which thread/post is new
