I Never Give Up

Post by MED6753 »

Been fighting an off again, on again battle with the vertical compensation on channel 1 of a Tek 475A. Anyone who has attempted to adjust the vertical compensation on a 400 series scope can appreciate how frustratingly difficult it can be to get all attenuation ranges perfect when they all interact with each other. Well this particular one was kicking my ass. Get one section perfect and other ranges totally screwed up. Well today I can claim victory. This 10X attenuator is NFG. It must have experienced an overload sometime in the past that damaged it. Usually they don't survive an overload at all. They go totally open which would have been an easy find. But this one was sneaky. And I finally nailed it. Compensation now perfect across all ranges.

Never give up.

Had a couple of shonky ones myself. The thin film resistor inside starts lifting.
