Post Office to send and receive Evri and DPD parcels
Post Office customers will soon be able to send parcels over the counter using DPD and Evri delivery services.
It is the first time in the Post Office's 360-year history that people can choose to use companies other than Royal Mail.
The new service will begin in selected stores in time for the peak Christmas delivery season, said the Post Office.
...
But why would you go to a post office when you can go to a dodgy shitty little corner shop with some really nice Indian dude behind the counter and get 10x better customer service than the miserable old Indian witches who seem to universally work in post offices and you don't have to queue behind 20 people who don't know what they're in for or are renewing a Gambian passport and don't know how to fill the form in?
Easy...
1) the post office is 100 yards away, the nearest corner shop like that is >3 miles away (if you are a crow), or slightly further if not (and you don't need to park your car)
2) the people in the post office are intelligent human beings, and you can join forces with them to oppose dangerous libertarian "shared space" road schemes
3) there's a 70% chance that the random family member behind the corner shop's till has never had to deal with a parcel being dropped off, and it takes them several attempts and a phone call to do it. Even then I'm unconvinced they've got it right, and sit watching the relevant tracking page until I see the parcel is moving
4) there's only a 50% chance I can understand an Indian accent. That's a shame since I like Kerala and Tamil Nadu
5) I'm sure there are others, but life is too short
Of course you do have to live somewhere where ambulatory obstacles are few and are not anonymous, and blue ice isn't likely to spoil your day.
