My buddy. Jumps up on the bench and rubs his head on my arm asking to get a head scratch. Then he lays down and watches me.

A picture - but not an image - from the last Bulwer-Lytton Fiction Contest https://www.bulwer-lytton.com/2024
Crime & Detective
Dishonorable Mentions
Staring unblinkingly into the pleading, tear-filled eyes of yet another dame looking for me to solve all her problems, I sighed, stretched, scratched my whiskers, stuck my hind leg in the air and bent my spine at a 45-degree angle to reach down and lick my butt clean, then donned my fedora—Taco, Cat Detective, was officially on the case.

Not only expensive to buy, but also expensive vets bills.
Same is true for dogs, except that boots are used

Yes, I do occasionally mention to people that I don't like dogs with their snouts kicked in.

What I find much more telling is how many owners of such animals' appearance is so very much like them. It's as if looking like you were swallowing your face were a cultural value or something.

Yes, there are many examples of how someone grows to look like their SO and/or pet. In some cases I've wondered (to myself!) whether incest was involved

No doubt there subruddits and twattertags for those with too much time on their hands.
Re: Post a picture of a cat
Our old dishwasher sprung a leak and building maintenance determined it needed to be replaced. So today a new one was installed. While maintenance was here Harley was locked up in the bedroom so he wouldn't get in the way (Trust me, he would). After they left I let him out and he immediately noticed the new dishwasher. True to form he had to go check it out. It was running so every time it changed cycles he jumped back and then sniffed it some more. Finally he laid down to guard over it. It's funny because he completely ignored the old dishwasher. And we rarely used it. Maybe once or twice a month. But this one has to be watched. You never know what might jump out of it.

He's an indoor cat and we don't have rodents so he has never seen one. But I've seen his hunting instinct kick in with the odd flying insect so I suspect any mouse would be a goner.
After the dishwasher completed it's cycle I opened it so he could check out the inside. He sniffed around for a few minutes and was satisfied there was no danger and walked away. So I'm surprised a few hours later he's back to check it out again.

Is a cat without a hunting insect instinct a cat? (Goddam autokorrupt)

Re: Post a picture of a cat
Cats vary a lot in their hunting instincts. Some are fully into it, rats, magpies, rabbits etc. Others might reach out and snag a mouse, if it doesn't involve reaching too far.
