Air pollution

Post by Specmaster »

With all this chatter about the expanding London ULEZ scheme and others across the country, I was intrigued when I noticed on the Local Chelmsford Community site about a local business owner complaining about the dust in the air. This was affecting his business in restoring cars to like new again and in particular about 2 of his staff who have had to have hospital treatment for damage to their eyes from this dust. He has tracked down the source of this to the operations of a local aggregates company which has its stocks delivered by train, and then they load it into lorries and transport it to the myriad of building sites around Chelmsford, of which there are plenty.

He has been raising the issue with our local MP and city council as well as being interviewed on the local radio stations, and now he has his own blog, and it can lead to Silicosis which leaves it suffers struggling for breath. His blog can be found here an on it, he has reports from hospitals about members of his staff. https://www.dustychelmsford.com/post/po ... from-space

More information is coming to light about these clean zones being setup around the country, it seems that it was a government directive in 2017 to certain locations and now the lid has been lifted by Leeds Council and their planed scheme is now supposed to be scrapped as the NOX levels are way below the levels for such a scheme being made compulsory. This has been bought about by more and more vehicles meeting the emissions standards than was the case before.

This also ties in nicely with my comments regarding regarding the pollution mushroom or dome that used to visible over London and was plain to see when driving down the M11 towards London, years ago, that is not the case today however, the pollution has gone.

Rather than post a link to yet another video, instead I'll post the notes about the video which has links to the various sources where the information came from.

The ulez scandal: What went wrong?

A FOI request by the Yorkshire Evening Post newspaper showed that Leeds City Council were planning to introduce a CAZ 3 years ago in January 2020 but scrapped it after taking legal advice. They said they had no legal authority to proceed with it due to the fact that the nitrogen dioxide levels had dropped so much. This was largely due to the amount of vehicles which were now compliant. Hmmmm , curious eh. They did however keep a lot of the Gov cash and install the ANPR cameras.

Here is the link to the article from the YEP from Feb 2022.

And here is an article from Yorkshire Live in Feb 2023. It includes a 40 minute podcast with MP Nick Fletcher who serves the Don Valley in Yorkshire. He discusses his opposition to 15 minute cities. It also includes his speech to parliament again in Feb 2023.
Yorkshire Tory MP slams '15 minute cities' as 'socialist' plot

PDF results of a survey conducted in Oct 2022 for 20 minute open prisons , sorry neighborhoods on behalf of Leeds City Council by Mott MacDonald.
It is extremely comprehensive and follows the same blueprint we have seen for this all over the world. It also includes a very long list of comments from people who took part in it.

So does this point to a hidden plan to introduce road charging?
