Just picked this up on fleabay, on the off chance it might be useful. Only £25, whereas similar gadgets are listed at >>£100.

If I understand it correctly, it captures and decodes many serial protocols, and exposes hooks enabling you to write JavaScript (ugh!) code to determine what is captured and ignored.
That's just what you need to ignore the boring crap and focus on the interesting stuff, whatever that might be.
If I've misunderstood it, I can afford the loss.
(I tried to insert the fleabay picture using [img] tags, but it only appeared as the text "image")
