Not sure how that could be corrected. I would be content with starting a new (continuation) thread, but that won't affect the "views" count. Maybe poking the specific database entry is possible?

Ah, you've spotted it already! I'm in anti-awe that software this old has such basic design flaws. The current version *does* use a much bigger integer for topic_views but I'm still annoyed that it logs views the way it does. Ideally you want that table to fit easily in RAM and having "other stuff" in it is bad.

No, I'm not a fan of TDD, even though I acknowledge its good points. Good tests are harder to write than the code they are testing, especially when integrating subsystems.

And then there is the even bigger problem of "doing the thing right" (which is the most TDD can hope to do) vs "doing the right thing".
