That is what mnementh said, all the built-in ones are still working, but support for others that are not built-in but are considered "standard" which used to work now no longer do. The built-in ones are somewhat restrictive in their selection and could do with being expanded.

Nah. We've moved on since ancient Egyptian writing
Example: what should I infer when I see
or
? Easy if you look at the text representation, very subjective if you look at the hieroglyphs/pictograms.
But then I also hate skeuomorphic interfaces, not least because they obscure meaning and allowed interactions.

Do you mean other emoji's worked here? That's how I read mnem's OP. If the issue is that we don't have emojis that other forums have, that's true. I'll be adding some emoji packs to address that.
Also, there are some emojis that I've wanted, even on other forums. Now, I can make them

No need to be blue with envy; all you have to do is write "blue with envy".

No, it was the Standard Unicode Smilies I was talking aboot; they're working again. Well, at least most of them are, same as before.
Would be nice to get some of the Kolobok packs in here, tho...

Yeah, I don't know what happened, but I did find the definitions of the emoji tags that phpBB auto-converts to pull images from twemoji.maxcdn.com. So, maybe there was a glitch with that CDN source.
Anyway, I dumped out the list, converted into a phpBB table, et voilà, the parser couldn't handle it. wah! wah! waaaah!
So, I've attached a list of the emoji codes.

Worth having a bitch about this.
Unicode defines emojis properly. Only Apple and Google implement the fucking things properly. Microsoft do a half arsed job of it and only on Windows 10 or greater with some fucked up mutant ones.
The ones that aren't unicode are almost all abhorrent turds.
