Re: TEK TM503 Project

Yeah, fair enough. The tube doesn't go beyond the M25. I believe there are companies that enable short-term use of horseless carriages, some requiring belonging to a club, some allowing you to walk up and present the appropriate papers, and drive out. Perhaps Dunstable Downs Sunday week? I did cons...

Re: TEK TM503 Project

Won't be too many years before your kids have you :( Get a train to Newbury, then a taxi to Chieveley. I'm sure you could cadge a lift back to the station :) Urgh I'm not suicidal enough to get a train out that way on a Sunday  While only £18.50 return with my railcard, I wouldn't make it unti...

Re: TEK TM503 Project

We know you like such things: you keep on coming back for more. Unless, of course, you are just here for our company? (Newbury Sunday?) Alas I have no wheels and have the kids this weekend or I would. Won't be too many years before your kids have you :( Get a train to Newbury, then a taxi to Chieve...

That last picture gave me nasty flashback of that fucking D81. That has the same chassis as the 3 slot TM500. We know you like such things: you keep on coming back for more. Re: Post a picture of a cat

Regarding one point there, interesting statistics from a friend of mine who runs a meetup group with paid and free events. We were literally discussing this yesterday so it's a handy copy and paste men who paid cancellation before event -> 6% women who paid cancellation before event -> 23% men who d...

Is it then still a 1N4148? Or has it mutated into a blob of mixed badness?
Two blobs of mixed badness to be clear. Each bonded to their own lead.

Re: Hooky HP E3610A

Well I left this as neutral feedback: Badly modified with a series diode on the (-) terminal and had serious drift problems. Both corrected: removed diode and replaced U1 so not a write off. But clearly barely as described and this would have been known to the seller based on the current test shown....

Re: Hooky HP E3610A

I'll have a think about the seller. It was an easy enough fix and performance is as expected now. Neutral is fine. If I was a novice or without the diagnostic ability I have I probably would have just returned it. From what you have said, the seller deliberately misrepresented its operation in two ...

Re: Hooky HP E3610A

Ok so this is now repaired and not drifting. As suspected the voltage amplifier opamp was wonky. It was replaced with a TI UA741CP which is just what I happened to have lying around. I'll calibrate it another day but it's delivering the rated current properly now anyway The culprit... IMG_0851.jpeg ...

Re: Hooky HP E3610A

The voltage drop was calibrated out by the seller. Obviously this changes due to the load and how much smoke was coming out of the 1N4148. ... Neutral feedback will be left as it’s obvious the seller was trying to hide this. If you can demonstrate they calibrated it out, then I'd screw the vendor -...

Re: Hooky HP E3610A

Oh now hang on a minute, no it doesn't. There's a modification, clearly an insane one. There is what looks like a series 1n4148 with the negative lead  Seems like a strange bodge. I'm wondering whether there might be a legitimate reason for doing it. Why a 1N4148 and not a 1N4007? From the ph...

Re: Test Equipment Anonymous (TEA) : Discussion and Group Therapy Thread

I've just been trying and failing to resurrect a Rega Apollo CD player. It was skipping on early tracks, but not on late ones. I was willing to punt for a £10 replacement mechanism, but before it arrived I found some audiofool stuff indicating it was a common fault. Some of them had convinced thems...

Not even surprised it was fake. It was making diesely sorts of noises!

An art. I am disappointed. I'd rather have the boards in stock for parts!
