The 8600A is nice. I had one years ago with a duff relay meaning it would hunt across ranges and never settle. It got another one bodged in and was fine after that. Far better engineering. More 8010A than 8000A.Zenith wrote: ↑Thu May 22, 2025 11:03 pmGood to know that. It certainly seems one to avoid. At the last rally I picked up an 8600A. After some fun, it now seems to work reliably. I'll write it up and report.bd139 wrote: ↑Thu May 22, 2025 7:55 pm On the original topic, the 8000A is a steaming turd of a meter. I hate them. The things have mains running on the soldermask-free board right up to the front panel. The LED displays die due to overheating. The little plastic pegs snap off the display. The ASICs in it like to blow up. Terrible DMM in all respects.
I wondered how you were getting on with your maths.
Maths is going well. First two modules done with distinctions. Third one in progress. Good TMA assignment grades so far (managed 99% on the calculus one!). Final exam for in June. Knee deep in complex numbers, matrices and integral calculus. Basic stuff but it's good fun. The next module is currently deferred until further notice due to a deadline in August of being unemployed and need to move house at the same time. Neither of these are a problem or a negative thing at the moment
