Car auction

Post by Specmaster »

You may remember a while ago I posted a quick photo of an Audi TT with only 1,800 miles on the clock which my son was asked to do a photoshoot for by the owner in order to list it in an online auction, well that auction is happening in 6 days time. I give you the link in case anybody is interested, I'm NAWTS, although I do know him as he has some rather nice war birds in his hangar at the airfield where the photoshoot was done.

Why why why did I come across this when I'm in a stupid car mood. So so so tempting but that's going to go for proper money

Yeah, I know, but as nice as this car is, and it really is nice, (been kept in an air conditioned bubble for all its life), its not ULEZ compliant and it would also require quite few gnat farts to keep it going

On the other hand, I now have finally got a result on the valuation for my banged up Superb, which it transpires now, that in the 7 years since it became officially my car, it has now only cost me £378.57 a year in depreciation, that is seriously low ownership cost for sure. Next week I should be picking up my new car, another Superb, L&K model with toys like adaptive cruise control, lane assist, blind spot detection, tri-zone air con, adaptive chassis control, powered boot lid etc, 3 years younger, road tax is only £35 a year and its also ULEZ compliant so no worries on that front. Dealer is refusing to hand it over to me until its had a full valet inside and out, just had the cam belt and water pump changed, DSG gearbox serviced, a new headlight fitted and rear light at a cost if I had that done at my cost from a dealer is over £2,000 (my old car is due cam belt and water pump change in 3 months @ £700), all the new car is only costing £500 more than the settlement of my old car. :D

So the only thing, I'll be missing that my car had is a TV tuner, big deal, but gaining loads more new bits of kit, newer model, runs on gnats farts (66 litre tank) and has the capability of driving up to around 1,000 miles on a single tankful and saving £145 a year in road tax, what's the catch? It has a few more miles on the clock, 137,000 as opposed to 80,000, but these are more than capable of 500,000 miles and at approx. 6,500 a year it should last me years.

Not to mention that it has a huge boot (trunk for our friends in the USA) to carry plenty of TE home should I ever get to attend a Radio Rally

Thanks, it is the updated version of my old model, seen here, but like most new cars, it is slightly larger by about 2" in length and 1" in width. It is also lighter, so although it is 40 BHP smaller in engine output, the the top speed and 0-62 mph times remain the same, hence the economy.
